Java Developer

Java Developer required to join the software development team at Crunch to further enhance the ground-breaking Crunch systems.

The successful Java Developer will be comfortable working in a very agile way, as opposed to a traditional ‘waterfall’ software development approach. As a Java Developer, you will have the opportunity to influence the evolution of Crunch systems which have the potential to dramatically change a very traditional, long-established industry.

Java Developer Responsibilities:

• Design, build and test software according to requirements and priorities defined by the Development Team Leader
• Assist other developers during day-to-day development
• Ensure software bugs are resolved in a timely fashion
• Assist with deploying software to development/test/production environments
• Attend regular status meetings with the development team
• Assist non-technical staff with any queries and issues of a technical nature
• Provide constructive feedback on product development issues and plans

Person Specification
Essential experience:

• Developing Enterprise Java applications (Java EE)
• A web application framework such as Struts, Spring or JBoss Seam
• Basic knowledge of SQL
• Basic knowledge of HTML and XML
• Full software development life cycle
• Test-driven software development
• The Eclipse IDE
• Enthusiastic team player who likes to be constantly challenged
• A general interest in web-based software and the Internet

Advantageous experience:

• Agile software development methodology
• A persistence framework such as JPA or Hibernate
• JUnit/TestNG/Selenium
• JavaServer Faces (JSF)
• JBoss Application Server
• JBoss Seam
• MySQL
• Developing and/or integrating with APIs

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000
