It’s great to hear about the launch of ‘Brighton Fuse’ – a new £1 million government funded initiative which aims to further fuel the growth of a city with an already strong digital economy. Crunch is particularly happy about this because we’re based in Brighton. Well, Hove actually but let’s not split hairs…
The idea behind the fund is to further boost the creative, digital and IT economy in Brighton and form stronger links with the two universities. Key to achieving this will be the Wired Sussex network which represents 2000 creative businesses in the area.
Wired Sussex see the project as an attempt to bring together the digital and media technology sector in greater synchronicity with the creatives and artists. This, in turn, has the potential to create more entrepreneurial opportunities for new graduates and help graduate-rich SMEs gain access to the best university research to help build their businesses.
And certainly it seems that Brighton is the perfect place to start up a business with the percentage of people self-employed being twice the national average.
