As usual, we’re kicking off our Self Assessment service early for those who want to get their personal tax done and dusted well before the deadline. Self Assessments for the 2012/13 tax year are due by January 31st 2014 (October 31st 2013 if you still file on paper), and as limited company directors all Crunch clients must file.
Our Self Assessment service is open to all Crunch clients , and prices start at £75+VAT, increasing dependant on the complexity of your personal finances. We’ll always let you know the full price before starting work on your return, so there’ll be no nasty surprises.
Getting your Self Assessment out of the way early means you can budget for any tax you owe, as payments are still not due until January 31st regardless of when you file. As our personal tax service prices will be increasing from 20th December onwards, now is the perfect time to take advantage of the service.
|Before December||December 20th onwards|
|Simple returns||£75 + VAT||£94.50 + VAT|
|Complicated returns||£125 + VAT||£149.50 + VAT|
|Very complicated returns||£200 + VAT||£224.50 + VAT|
This year we’re also offering an extra service for those who have fallen behind with their personal tax filings, to help them take advantage of HMRC’s My Tax Return Catch Up initiative.
Until 15th October 2013 those with an overdue Self Assessment for the 2011/12 tax year or earlier are being granted an amnesty on increasing fines and penalties. It’s not clear exactly how much leniency HMRC is offering – so don’t expect to have the slate wiped clean – but you’re likely to be granted much more favourable conditions by using this scheme. In order to take part, you’ll need to notify HMRC as soon as possible.
To help clients wishing to take advantage of the scheme, Self Assessments from previous years will also be eligible for our personal tax service this year. To get started, email your account manager.
We can do almost everything for you, but it’s up to you to register with HMRC for your personal tax return 2012/13 (and My Tax Return Catch Up, if relevant).
To register simply telephone the Self-Assessment Helpline on 0845 900 0444. You will need to provide your National Insurance number and let them know you are a company director. If you are asked if you would like to register as an employer you can politely decline as we’ve already done this for you.
