Now we no longer have a large office base as we embrace remote-first ways of working, the role offers you the opportunity to work remotely all the time, or a mixture of office and remote working if you would prefer this as we have some temporary office space in the Brighton & Hove area.
We’re hiring for a permanent, full-time Accountant as we bring some previously outsourced department processes back in-house, who will focus on producing accounts and self-assessments in accordance with department service level agreements.
About the role:
The purpose of this role is to work as part of a small accountancy team to provide excellent service to our clients. The role will be coached and guided by more experienced members of the team to reach agreed accounts and / or self assessment production targets.
Please note that our management accountant and financial accountant roles are in a separate team with no vacancies at present.
Role responsibilities:
- Work on the production of company accounts and corporation tax calculations.
- Support the performance of Accountancy teams towards achievement of agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Provide accurate accounting and tax advice to our clients based on their individual circumstances.
- Answer client queries via email, telephone and online chat support and maintain accurate records.
- Proactively manage your own tasks, client queries and team phone calls as part of your own workload management.
- Understand the Crunch systems and apply this knowledge efficiently and effectively.
- Work closely with other departments, in particular Client Services, to ensure high levels of client service are achieved.
- Actively promote and manage the additional services delivered by Accountants to support achievement of Crunch’s key revenue growth targets (for example, accountancy reviews, upselling packages, Client referrals, financial services).
- Keep up to date with the latest changes to tax laws, rules and regulations, develop knowledge and skills and maintain Continuous Professional Development (CPD), Practical Experience Requirements (PER’s) and complete annual Crunch Essentials Training.
- Embrace the usage of the Hibob system, which is being used by Crunch to complete regular 121 and review conversations, and for setting and tracking company and department Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
About your and experience:
Essential:
- 5 GCSEs (Grades A* to C or 9 to 4), which must include Maths and English, or equivalent.
- Previous practical experience of working as an Accountant or equivalent in an Accountancy practice.
- Previous experience of working in a volume accounts environment.
- Have a keen interest in software applications and developing accountancy knowledge.
- Experience of using cloud accounting software.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a Software as a Service (SaaS) environment.
- A recognised Accountancy qualification.

Other information:

- The usual working hours are Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:30.
- You need to be able to work from home in a comfortable, private and distraction free environment, with a solid internet connection (a minimum of 10-12 Mbps upload speed).
- We'll provide you with all the IT equipment you need to get set up before you start with us - so there's no need to supply your own.
- You would agree to visit our offices in the Brighton & Hove area on your first day to collect your IT equipment and attend a business induction.
