About Crunch:

Crunch is a multi-award winning Software as a Service (SaaS) company born in the heart of Brighton with a brilliant team of 130, and over 40,000 users of our software. Together, we single-handedly pioneered a complete online accounting solution to empower self-employed contractors, freelancers and micro-businesses in the UK, helping them to grow their business and create the lives they want as part of a powerful community.

We have an exciting new permanent Head of Marketing role available in our Crunch Marketing team!

Now we no longer have a large office base as we embrace remote-first ways of working, the role offers you the opportunity to work remotely all the time, or a mixture of office and remote working if you would prefer this as we have some fabulous co-working spaces in the Brighton & Hove area.

There would be a requirement for this role to attend meetings in person on a monthly basis in our co-working space in central Brighton.

About the role:

This role is a key member of our Marketing Team and Crunch Leadership Team. The role is accountable for driving user acquisition, retention, and revenue growth, through inspirational team management and delivery of innovative and data-driven marketing strategies.

The primary objective of this role is to execute B2C marketing led initiatives to attract high volume sole trader and limited company customers and optimise more conversion using online channels. The secondary objective of this role is to reach these customers through partnership targeting with access to this audience.

Using a track record of successfully scaling customer acquisition channels, this role conveys a passion for digital marketing and analytics to help us deliver our ambitious growth plans.

This is an operational as well as a strategic role, so that ability to get stuck in, whilst supporting the team and managing wider business expectations is crucial for this role.

Role responsibilities:

Professional and Technical Leadership

  • Develop and execute comprehensive growth marketing strategies to drive user acquisition, engagement, and revenue growth.
  • Define and implement department, team and individual Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) with input from the Founder & CEO, Marketing Consultant and People Team. Record actions and outputs as agreed by the Leadership Team.
  • Utilise a systematic, data-driven approach to identify key growth opportunities, track performance metrics, and optimise marketing campaigns accordingly.
  • Manage and optimise various acquisition channels, including but not limited to CRO, PPC, SEO, email marketing, social media advertising and content marketing.
  • Collaborate closely with the Transformation & Product team to optimise the user experience and conversion funnels.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and best practices in the accounting and fintech industries.
  • Lead A/B testing and experimentation initiatives to optimise conversion rates and user engagement metrics.
  • Analyse campaign performance and provide actionable insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in digital marketing, technology, and industry best practices.
  • Alongside the Marketing Consultant, set individual and team objectives and targets, measure progress and embrace the optimisation of the Hibob system for setting and tracking company and department goals, conducting quarterly reviews and 121’s.
  • Manage people related matters with direct reports, lead daily standups and plan team cover (including freelancer availability) during peak holiday periods to ensure we have sufficient resources to complete agreed tasks.
  • Be the Crunch point of contact for specified Marketing freelancers, in particular supporting them with the prioritisation of work and filtering questions and requests for support from stakeholders.
  • Support the activities of the Sales team and build strong and enduring relationships to generate quality leads, and ensure the teams operate in tandem to achieve and exceed their targets.

Leadership Team

  • Contribute to defining operational and strategic priorities for the business as part of regular business planning and roadmap sessions, including presenting to Board members, external partners and potential or actual investors.
  • Seek to understand all aspects of the business, its goals and aspirations, and apply to the Marketing team deliverables.
  • Manage departmental budgets as agreed with the Marketing Consultant and Interim Operations & Finance Director via careful resource allocation and effective cost management.
  • A member of the Crunch Leadership Team (LT) defining operational and strategic priorities as part of our commitment to the achievement of business metrics, Service Level Agreements (SLA’s), setting team and individual performance and development objectives using the Hibob system to its full capability.
  • Ensure that legal and regulatory requirements from a department and company perspective are considered and met at all times, such as adherence to ‘Crunch Essentials’ compliance, to minimise or mitigate any potential commercial or reputational risks to Crunch.
  • A member of the Crunch Crisis Management Team, ensuring a swift and proactive disaster recovery response to any critical situations affecting business continuity or the client/member experience.
  • Be instrumental in the cultural change associated with evolving ways of working at Crunch, in particular our commitment to offering hybrid and flexible working options for our team, and tackling any challenges that need to be overcome.
  • Embrace diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging within Crunch, help us achieve our aims in order to maximise our competitive advantage and ensure we recruit and retain the best talent, particularly from under-represented groups within the Crunch team.
  • Be an advocate of Corporate Social Responsibility, supporting our future goal to become B-Corp certified, promoting ‘Crunch For Good’ initiatives in the local community and making tangible progress achieving ‘Net Zero’ commitments.
