Richard waved goodbye to spreadsheets by choosing Crunch for his electrician accounting
Richard Grey started his career as a police offer, but had a change of heart. A return to college to retrain as an electrician followed by a period of contracting led to Richard going it alone. After an admittedly challenging start, Richard’s business is now thriving - and Crunch is by his side.
“The majority of my work comes from word of mouth, but then around 25% comes from social media.”
Asked about his top tip for someone looking to follow in his footsteps, Richard said: “Make sure you have a couple of months’ worth of money behind you, because even when the work comes in, people are slow at paying you. Never believe somebody when they say the cheque is in the post!”
Fortunately, Crunch’s Automated Late Payment Reminders help ease some of the aggravation that can come with slow-paying clients. Richard, who joined Crunch in October 2020, said: “Crunch has definitely been helpful - without a shadow of a doubt.”
“Now I know if an invoice has been paid or not. I’m not searching through Excel spreadsheets, which is always good. Also the fact I don’t have to deal with HMRC - Crunch does it for me.”
Richard particularly enjoys the visibility that the Crunch software gives him of his business performance, adding: “I can log in and the dashboard shows me where I am with my finances (provided everything is up to date). At a glance, I can see exactly how my business is doing.”
For Richard the focus is now keeping up with demand, and, as his business grows, Crunch is designed to grow with him.
