Bio

Dan Howitt is the CEO and co-founder of Recap, the UK's leading crypto tax calculation platform. With over a decade of experience in software development and active involvement in crypto since 2013, Dan has navigated multiple market cycles firsthand. In 2017, frustrated by the lack of tools to manage his own crypto tax obligations, he founded Recap to help investors easily understand their tax position through real-time tracking across exchanges and wallets. Dan is a member of HMRC's Cryptoasset Industry Roundtable Working Group and has submitted several responses to consultations from both HMRC and the FCA, advocating for simpler tax rules that put taxpayers first and better align taxation with underlying economic activity. His mission with Recap is to take the complexity out of crypto tax, giving investors the clarity and confidence to focus on what matters most — their portfolio.
