About

About Crunch:

Crunch is a multi-award winning Software as a Service (SaaS) company, born in the heart of Brighton with a brilliant team of 110, and over 40,000 users of our software.

Crunch isn’t your typical online accountancy firm. We’re a grassroots business built from the ground up, facing the same challenges as our clients. Since 2009, we’ve empowered thousands of small and medium sized businesses to take control of their finances with our simple, effective software, which includes real accountant support. Crunch takes the stress out of accounting, so our clients can focus on doing what they love!

We have an exciting new permanent Senior Business Analyst role in our Transformation & Product team!

About the role:

We are seeking a highly technical and experienced Senior Business Analyst to join our Transformation and Product Team. This role is instrumental in supporting the business to deliver successful software projects, manage technical and regulatory change, and plan for the future in line with company goals and objectives.

Our Senior Business Analyst will drive the BA function, acting as a crucial bridge between business stakeholders and our software engineering teams. You will take the lead in identifying complex technical and system requirements, mapping data integrations, and creating cross-departmental workflows. The results of this work will drive revenue growth, deliver regulatory change and system efficiency gains, increase client handling capacity, and boost employee engagement by simplifying the ways we work!

In this role, you will be:

  • Bridging the Technical Gap: Acting as the translator between non-technical stakeholders and software engineering teams to articulate complex technical ideas and ensure everyone is aligned.
  • Leading Software Delivery: Leading or participating in multiple software and platform projects across all business functions, ensuring efficient and on-time delivery.
  • Mapping Complex Systems and changes: Scoping out, analysing, and documenting intricate system requirements, technical specifications, and API data mapping using prioritisation techniques.
  • Championing AI & Automation: Identifying and scoping opportunities to integrate AI, machine learning, and automation into our platform and internal processes to drive operational efficiency and enhance the user experience.
  • Driving Strategy & OKRs: Working with the Transformation & Product Director to identify strategic change initiatives, while embracing internal systems to set and track OKRs.
  • Mentoring the Team: Coaching and mentoring our less experienced Business Analysts to support them in the delivery of their projects and the development of their technical analysis skills.
  • Managing Stakeholders & Suppliers: Working with third-party technical consultants and sharing reciprocal business knowledge to support API and platform integrations.

The essentials:

  • Right to work in the UK; we will need to see proof of this prior to confirming an offer of employment.
  • Proven experience in a senior Business Analyst role (or extensive experience at a mid-level stepping up) within a software development or SaaS environment.
  • Advanced technical capability, specifically concerning HMRC processes, API integrations, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience in business process analysis, technical system mapping, and business process modelling.
  • Ability to query and analyse data to provide insight across multiple business functions.
  • Experience of ‘agile’ project management methodology, software development lifecycles, and application.
  • Completion of a BA-related professional qualification, such as BCS Business Analysis certification.

The ‘nice to have’:

  • Degree or accredited qualification in a relevant discipline (ideally numerical, analytical, or computer science related).
  • Usage of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software such as Salesforce.
  • Knowledge of third-party and/or cloud-based accounting software that are competitors to Crunch products.
  • Understanding of other project management methodologies such as PRINCE2 or Lean Six Sigma.

What you’ll get in return:

We’re very proud of our collaborative and inclusive working environment - you’ll be working as part of a fun and vibrant team, with a whole host of fantastic company benefits!

These include:

  • Fully remote working in the UK, with no more than a quarterly meet up as required.
  • 33 days holiday a year (including bank holidays) - plus an extra half day off on your birthday.
  • Long service gift awards plus extra holidays for 5, 10 and 15 years’ service.
