Running a business means making decisions all the time. How should you deal with a particular expense? What does a change in the tax rules mean for you? Is there anything you need to do before a deadline?
You could stop what you’re doing and go looking for an answer, or you could just ask Luca.
Who is Luca?
Luca is your Crunch Copilot, an AI-powered helping tool available 24/7. So whether you’re stuck at 5:00am or 5:00pm, he’s got your back. He’s there to help you find answers about your Crunch software, UK tax and accounting, HMRC rules and deadlines, allowable expenses and more. Think of him as your very own pocket digital sidekick.
No Crunch Copilot would be complete without a little accounting connection, so there’s a little history behind the name too. Luca is named after Luca Pacioli, often referred to as the father of accounting. A 15th-century Italian mathematician and writer, Pacioli documented the principles of double-entry bookkeeping, helping establish the foundations of modern accounting.
Our Luca is considerably more modern, but we thought it was a pretty fitting name anyway.
Why did we create Luca?
Questions about your finances do not tend to arrive when it is convenient. You might be working on your accounts and realise you need to check something. You might have heard about a change to the tax rules and want to know what it actually means. Or you might simply be trying to work out the best way to do something in Crunch. These are the questions that can interrupt your flow.
Sometimes you need a detailed answer, and sometimes you just need a quick nudge in the right direction. That’s why we’ve introduced Luca.
Instead of stopping what you’re doing to search for an answer or leaving the software to get help, you can ask Luca the question and carry on with what you’re doing interruption-free. It’s about making those little moments of uncertainty easier to deal with, so you can spend less time wondering what to do next and more time getting on with it.
What can Luca help with?
Luca can help with questions about your Crunch software, your finances and the wider world of tax and HMRC rules.
When you’re using Crunch, you can ask Luca about how things work, where to find something or what to do next. For example, you might be wondering how to deal with a double entry bank transaction. You can simply explain what you’re trying to do and get some help without needing to step away from what you’re working on.
His help goes beyond the software too. For example, you might want to understand whether an expense is allowable, what a tax threshold means for you, or when you need to submit something to HMRC. Whatever the question, Luca can help you get the information you need quickly.
Ask Luca in your own words
You don’t need to know exactly what to ask or use the right accounting terminology. Just tell Luca what you’re trying to work on, in your own words.
You could ask something like:
- “I’ve got a double entry bank transaction and I’m not sure how to fix it.”
- “I’m not sure whether this expense is allowable. Can you help?”
- “When is the next MTD for Income Tax deadline?”
- “I’m working through my accounts. What do I need to do after logging an expense?”
- “I’m about to send my first invoice - how do I set it up for recurring payment reminders?”
Whether you need a quick answer or want to understand something in a little more detail, start with the question and go from there. For anything more complicated, or for personalised tax-saving advice, our certified accountants are there to help.
