At Crunch, we’re passionate about building great experiences, and Alex, our Product Designer in the Product and Transformation team, plays a huge part in that. 

She’s been with us for ten months, and she’s shaped the way our customers interact with Crunch. Let’s take a deeper dive into what she does and what makes her tick.

Inside the role of Product Designer

1. Can you tell us what your role at Crunch involves and what you enjoy most about it?

Sure! My role at Crunch is simple; to make your experience better. Through research, design, and collaboration, I work to create solutions that make Crunch more efficient, seamless, and fun for you to interact with.

2. What does a typical day in your life look like?

My day begins with the fun challenge of finding matching clothes for the kids, followed by the nursery run. Once I'm back, I grab a coffee and start planning. I dive into emails and messages, then switch gears to design exciting screens and flows. 

I stay inspired by browsing the internet, taking calls, offering UX advice, reviewing feedback, and connecting with Crunch customers to ensure we're delivering the best experience.

3. Can you share a project you’re particularly proud of?

A project I’m really proud of right now is something we’re building called Auto-match. It’s designed to let users reconcile their statement entries to their Crunch entries in just one click.

We’re still in the middle of building it, but even now, you can feel how much easier it’s going to make people’s lives. It's a game-changer. That’s the kind of impact I love designing for.

4. How do you go above and beyond to support Crunch clients?

I love turning our wonderful Crunch user feedback and feature requests into fresh ideas that make Crunch even better! I keep a close eye on our Design trends, user feedback and user analytics, and right now, I’m excited to be working on onboarding. User suggestions have sparked some exciting improvements to make the process smoother, faster, and way more intuitive for everyone!

We all know that behind every great role, there’s a person with a unique story. 

5. Can you share an interesting fact that might surprise us?

I was a racehorse owner for nearly 10 years! Her pet name was 'Milly' and her racing name was 'Tell the Trees', the famous AP McCoy has raced her at Aintree.

6. Wow - that’s fascinating! Do you have any hidden talents?

Sticking with the horse theme, I can balance a 1-year-old and a 2-year-old on my back at the same time while pretending to be a horse!
