Simon Akers
Archmon
With Crunch, Simon can focus on delivering powerful marketing strategies.
Simon Akers is the founder and partner of Archmon, a strategic marketing consultancy launched in 2019. With a background in marketing and data-driven organisations, Simon’s career spans lead generation, performance media, and holistic marketing strategy through media companies and agencies. He founded Archmon to bring all those disciplines together, offering bespoke consultancy that helps clients achieve real, measurable business outcomes through marketing.
From the start, Archmon has operated as more than a solo venture. Simon has built a flexible, collaborative model, what he calls the Outcome Collective, a trusted network of freelancers, partners, and vendors that he utilises to bring his strategies to life
The Challenge:
For Simon, time and focus are at the core of doing great work. But when it came to accounting and bookkeeping, those priorities were constantly under pressure. He admits, “Thinking time and focus is the essence of my business, and I get easily distracted, so I know to get accounts and bookkeeping done, it needs to be simple, light touch, and ultimately not me doing it!”.
In the past, he’d relied on a more traditional accountant, but the support felt surface-level. Simon shares, “In a previous business I had an accountant and she was just ‘keep the receipts’ and ‘have an invoice template’—I had no real idea what was going on. I need to know what is happening to the penny.”
He needed something smarter, simpler, and much more transparent.
Choosing Crunch:
When Simon discovered Crunch, the appeal was immediate. He was looking for a partner who could help him run his business properly, with confidence that all the boxes were being ticked.
After a call and a quick demo, Simon saw that Crunch offered everything he needed—wrapped into one streamlined monthly package. He says, “I liked the way it was all there in one for a monthly cost.”
The Crunch Difference:
As a Limited company director, Simon now uses Crunch for everything from invoicing and expense tracking to VAT returns and company accounts. He particularly values the clarity it gives him over key financial details like his tax position and available dividends.
He says, “It is really useful to get the quarterly VAT done (with my reconciling from Starling bank) and company accounts. I also pay a little extra every April for my Self Assessment as I know they will do it properly, quickly and have a purview of both my company and personal tax affairs.”
But for Simon, the real standout is the human support behind the software: “The biggest win is having the dedicated client manager. And of course, you get access to an accountant anytime Monday to Friday. With the platform and returns all included, it’s accountancy completely ticked off!”
Simon’s recommendations:
Reflecting on his experience, Simon encourages fellow business owners to get proactive with their accounting and not settle for tools that leave them in the dark.
“Business is hard and lots of factors impact it, but what Crunch does so well is give you an overview of performance of incomings and outgoings, and a clear position of what’s what.” And it’s not just about compliance, it’s about insight. He says, “If I want to proactively ask for tips, like whether I’m being as efficient as I could be, they can advise accordingly.”
He adds, “If you are working for yourself or a small business, you want to save time on admin and accounting, while knowing what is happening and getting a sense of support, you should definitely use Crunch”.
Thanks to Crunch, Simon can focus on what he does best—delivering strategic marketing with real impact, while staying confident that the numbers are always under control.
