Ryan has been with Crunch for 4 years, and in that time he’s played a huge role in shaping how our clients experience the Crunch website.

As a Webflow Designer, he’s the go-to for everything from building and maintaining pages to optimising SEO, creating website assets, and even developing the powerful tax calculators that thousands of people rely on every day.

Inside the role of Webflow Designer

1. Can you tell us what your role at Crunch involves and what you enjoy most about it?

I handle anything to do with the Crunch Website, from building new pages, maintaining existing pages, updating website content, optimising SEO, tracking, and integrating new technologies with the website and creating website assets. 

2. What does a typical day in your life look like?

My working days vary depending on which project I'm working on. Some days that might be a flat out sprint to get a new page built, others might be juggling multiple projects and helping other teams complete their projects. Some more tedious days could be updating hundreds of links across the website. 

3. Can you share a project you’re particularly proud of?

Yes. We rebuilt several tax calculators (and are currently in the process of building several new calculators) such as our income tax calculator, and National Insurance calculator.

Our previous calculators were very expensive to develop and difficult to maintain. We found a tool which allowed us to build and maintain calculators much quicker, and I worked with some of our accountants to rebuild the calculators from scratch. Seeing the calculator logic at first was intimidating yet impressive how our accountants can come up with it. 

There were hours of testing and troubleshooting during each build but to finally see the fully functioning calculator is rewarding. Since the new calculators have gone live, to hear they are extremely popular and driving lots of traffic to the site is the icing on the cake!

4. How do you go above and beyond to support the Crunch team?

I have often had to take on roles and responsibilities of other team members to support the marketing team and keep our projects moving forward. This often means learning new software and juggling more projects. From my first year at Crunch to now, the number of skills and understanding of web practices has quadrupled.

5. Can you share an interesting fact that might surprise us?

I'm a Blackbelt in Brazilian JiuJitsu and spend most evenings teaching classes in London. Last year I was invited to train on stage of the Lion King with Mufasa and Scar.

6. Wow - that’s amazing! Do you have any hidden talents?

I can speak Korean.
