Fiona Chorlton-Voong is the founder of FCV Consulting, a growth strategy consultancy that helps turn ambitious ideas into actual growth. From long-term strategic transformation to targeted growth projects, she works with clients to spot opportunities, solve challenges, and build clear plans for what comes next.

Instead of taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Fiona brings together the right people for each project, drawing on a network of experienced consultants when needed. At its heart, FCV Consulting is about helping businesses find clarity, make confident decisions, and keep moving forward.

The Challenge:

Fiona's focus needs to be on her clients, not getting pulled into endless admin. Invoices, expenses, tax admin, all the tasks that quietly eat into a business owner's day can quickly add up when you'd rather be focused on client work.

Previously, her accountants had her bouncing between multiple tools just to stay on top of the basics. Nothing felt joined up, and every extra platform added another layer of admin. As a busy consultant, simplicity mattered. She needed one place to manage everything without disconnected systems slowing her down.

Most importantly, she needed something that simply worked, keeping things organised in the background so she could focus on running her business.

The Crunch Difference:

For Fiona, Crunch stands out because it genuinely brings together smart software with expert accounting support. Rather than juggling multiple tools and disconnected systems, everything she needs sits within a single setup.

Having previously worked with accountants who relied on multiple third-party tools, Fiona values the simplicity of Crunch's all-in-one approach. "What I like about Crunch compared to my previous accountants is that they had lots of plugins. There are not many accountants that do what Crunch does, that have their own system and aren't plugging into different tools. I live in an AI world, I use 5,000 tools. So, the less apps on my phone, the better."

The simplicity is exactly what she was missing before. “I use you guys for invoicing and everything, it’s all easy to use.” When the basics are straightforward, the rest of the admin doesn't get a chance to pile up. “I love Crunch Snap… it’s literally so easy to use. Upload, that’s it. Done,” she explains. With Snap, she can quickly capture receipts and expenses on the go, which are then added straight into her account, removing the need for manual data entry or the classic shoebox full of receipts.

It’s not just the software either. Having real people behind it matters. “You don’t get that in many accounting software providers. I like that there is access to an accountant whenever I need it,” she says. Whether it’s setting things up properly or getting tax-savvy advice, she knows there’s someone to speak to when she needs it. “I had a really great call with an accountant who gave me really good advice on how to set myself up. It was just really good to speak to a person and have them really listen to what I was building and then offer what they think is the best thing to do for you.”

When asked what Crunch means to her, she keeps it simple: "It's a one-stop shop for accountants basically." Her first experience with Crunch set the tone. "I did the onboarding and just loved it so I stayed. I'm using Crunch now with my current business and recommending you guys left, right, and centre."

For Fiona, it's the combination that makes the difference. Straightforward software that keeps admin under control, expert support when she needs it, and everything working together in one place. That means less time switching between systems and more time focusing on her clients and growing her business.

Fiona’s recommendations:

Fiona’s advice for anyone going self-employed or starting a business is to get the foundations right early. In her experience, it makes everything that follows much easier. “It’s much easier to do it properly from the beginning than to try and unpick. Get as much free advice as you possibly can from professionals, whether that’s insurance, accountancy, or contracting,” Fiona explains.

She’s also clear on the value of working with people you can actually speak to. “When I was with other accountants, you could never jump on a video call. It’s really weird in this day and age not to see who you’re talking to, especially when it’s such a trust thing between you and your accountant.”

With Crunch, that's no longer a barrier. If she wants to talk something through, she can jump on a video call and get advice from a real person who understands her business. It makes the whole experience feel more personal, more direct, and easier to trust.
